- One Song is an audio-visual installation and community archive by artist Kadir Karababa. The exhibition explores how music carries memory, identity and a sense of home across borders. Begun in 2022, this touring project brings together songs and stories contributed by women with personal experience of migration or seeking sanctuary. Built through participation and shared experience, this iteration of the exhibition was developed with members of the Brighton community. Each participant is invited to share a song that transports them to the place they first called home. These songs form the heart of the installation, bringing together individual memories to create a collective portrait of migration, belonging and home. The project is inspired by the artist's own family history of migration from South East Turkey to London, and by an interest in how songs travel across borders while remaining rooted in the places where they were first sung.

- This Autumn we are celebrating Ashley Hanson’s milestone 100th painting in his long-running series exploring the Cornish coastal town, Porthleven. A small town with only a few thousand residents, abstract painter Ashley Hanson depicts Porthleven from all angles, representing everything from the clock tower to the local pub. His thickly textured paintings make great use of gesture and movement to capture the thrum of energy that is apparent in the town, his bold use of colour amplifying the impact. Known for its sweeping sunsets where the sun cuts right down through the centre of the harbour, his paintings often immerse you in deep warm tones reflecting this sumptuous view.

- The In Between Gallery is an exhibition space for contemporary photography in Fabrica’s large window on Duke Street, Brighton. Showing from June until autumn 2026 is Emma Collins’s image, taken from her series The Snail and the Mannequin. These photographs were made in the artist’s family home, with scenes constructed in familiar rooms where something feels slightly off: small details that don’t sit quite right, and ordinary moments that begin to shift into something stranger. Natural materials such as soil, roots, grass, branches and shells recur throughout the work. While they carry associations of grounding and belonging, once brought into the home and removed from their natural context, these associations shift, producing a sense of unease and reflecting how attempts to root ourselves can generate both stability and dislocation. The work also draws on Freud’s idea of the uncanny, in which the home - typically understood as safe and familiar - can become unfamiliar or unsettling.
