  • As part of its Open Space program, the Fondation Louis Vuitton has invited Saudi artist Mohammad Alfaraj (b. 1993, Saudi Arabia) to create a site-specific work in Gallery 8, marking his first solo exhibition in a French institution. Free access with a ticket for the "Gustave Fayet, Collector - Designer. Icons of Modern Art" exhibition. A multidisciplinary artist, Mohammad Alfaraj develops a practice spanning writing, video, photography, drawing, and sculpture rooted in the Al Ahsa oasis, where he lives and works. Drawing on Saudi Arabia’s oral traditions, he explores social practices, urban and rural architectures, and everyday narratives to examine the relationships between humans and nature. His works often take the form of poetic fables that engage with contemporary ecological, social, and cultural issues. The exhibition I'd rather be a dragonfly than a lion brings together a series of videos within an installation composed of objects, photographs, and drawings. These stop-motion animations draw on the collective imaginaries of his native country, giving form to poetic narratives that he writes and performs himself.

  • Building on its “Icons of Modern Art” exhibitions, devoted to major collectors such as Sergei Shchukin, Mikhail and Ivan Morozov, and Samuel Courtauld, the Fondation Louis Vuitton continues its exploration of the pioneering figures who contributed to the history of modern art with an exceptional exhibition: “Gustave Fayet: Collector - Artist Designer”, on view from 9 October 2026 to 8 March 2027. Occupying all the spaces of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, this major exhibition is presented in two parts, examining Gustave Fayet both as a collector and as an artist designer. It reveals how collecting, creating, and artistic commitment were deeply intertwined throughout his life, and presents a key figure of turn-of-the-century modernity who has long been unjustly overlooked. An exhibition unprecedented in scale and scope, it brings together for the first time in a century more than 250 works from Gustave Fayet’s extraordinary collection, now dispersed around the world. They are presented alongside 374 of his own creations, most of them never before exhibited and specially restored for the occasion.

  • Bathed in natural daylight from a skylight, the exhibition begins in the Studio, which displays an original scale model around which visitors can walk before discovering two widescreen videos shot using drones. Prepared in collaboration with Frank Gehry’s teams in Los Angeles, this permanent exhibition proposes an open itinerary for visitors. Like the building itself, which offers multiple possible itineraries, visitors are invited on an architectural journey that describes and explains the process that culminated in a building which is already recognised as a major new monument for Paris. This combination creates a unique visual experience, offering a vision of the building’s striking beauty, as well as its technological complexity. The landings overlooking the "canyon" present key elements essential to understanding the building: construction, materials, design, context in Paris. The landings can be accessed via the sole staircase where the steel structural walls have been left exposed, evoking the hull of a ship. Visitors also discover the initial sketches for the project, expressing the creative inspiration of the architect, who was awarded the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 1989.

  • Gerhard Richter has always been drawn to both subject matter and the very language of painting — a field of experimentation whose boundaries he has continually pushed, avoiding any singular categorization. His training at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts led him to engage with traditional genres such as still life, portraiture, landscape, and history painting. His desire to reinterpret these genres through a contemporary lens lies at the heart of this exhibition. Regardless of subject, Richter never paints directly from nature or from the scene before him: every image is filtered through an intermediary medium — through a photograph or a drawing — from which he constructs a new, autonomous work. Over time, he has explored an extraordinary range of genres and techniques within painting, developing various methods of applying paint to canvas — whether with a brush, a palette knife, or a squeegee. The exhibition brings together many of Richter’s most significant works up to his decision in 2017 to stop painting, while continuing to draw. Presented in chronological order, each section spans approximately a decade and traces the evolution of a singular pictorial vision — one shaped by both rupture and continuity — from his early photo-based paintings to his final abstractions.

  • Jakob Kudsk Steensen (1987, Denmark) is the new guest of Open Space, the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s contemporary art program. On the occasion of this solo exhibition—his first in a Paris institution—the Danish artist presents The Song Trapper (2025), a new immersive installation including moving image, virtual performance, and spatialized sound. Displayed on multiple LED screens arranged to respond to the spatial qualities of the Fondation’s Gallery 8, the video features Steensen’s world-first character—The Song Trapper—in search of relics connected to voice and song. Originating from hand-drawn images by the artist using ink and watercolor, this character was transformed into 3D models and then animated inside virtual worlds created by Steensen. Incapable of speech, The Song Trapper navigates these environments by collecting sounds that they gather, remix, and play back using musical devices attached to their body—canisters, flutes, etc. As in video games, these environments shift in response to the protagonist’s gestures, and vice versa; movement, sound, and landscape fall into rhythm. Steering the narrative, a free-verse poem by Steensen—appearing as subtitles in the video—reveals the inner workings and philosophies of The Song Trapper’s travels.

  • From 6pm to 9pm, explore the exhibition whilst listening to a broadcast of the first three hours of Max Richter's SLEEP concert. Free entry with a ticket to the Gerhard Richter exhibition. The Fondation welcomed Max Richter for two extraordinary evenings on 14 and 15 November 2025 at the Auditorium and in the galleries, featuring the SLEEP project, to mark the 10th anniversary of the musical work's creation. To extend the experience, the Fondation is offering a musical tour through the galleries of the Gerhard Richter exhibition. In the German painter's work, blurring, erasure and layering examine memory and the mediation of images. The artistic worlds of painter and composer converge, creating a shared aesthetic around the treatment of time, its duration and its repetition. Created in 2015 by Max Richter and conceived with his collaborator Yulia Mahr, SLEEP is considered one of the most ambitious and culturally significant classical music projects of the 21st century. This 8-hour musical exploration of the interaction between sound and the sleeping mind examines the effects of infrasound and repetition in promoting deep sleep.
