  • It is undeniable, when you encounter Gauthier Hubert’s painting for the first time, that you are dealing with a painter that knows what he’s doing and, if I may say so, one that has a perfect mastery of his trade. The closer you look at his painstakingly and almost lovingly painted works, the more you appreciate and enjoy the subtle construction of his almost abstract backgrounds, with atmospheres and micro-chromatic asperities from which figures appear from seemingly nowhere. Their gripping presence is indifferent and staggering at the same time – be it infinite galactic perspectives (such that the artist ends up successively adding stars over time, unlike Bonnard touching up on a painting already hanging in a museum, but as a deliberate intent of unfinishedness ascribed to specific works), narrative landscapes operating as visual traps, or of course particularly uneasy portraits that seemingly claim a form of aestheticization of ugliness as an impediment to the beauty of painting. For his painting has this particularity of producing narrative systems in which titles, often inscribed into the skin of the canvas itself, play a crucial role without veering into the realm of narrative painting (even though the painter does not shy away from storytelling, much like the viewer): there is no anecdotal genre paintings or historical scenes, but rather allusions, references, nods, and puns (sometimes understandable by the author only). In his work, each painting is a game played with the viewer and it must be earned. Make no mistake, his pieces are not riddles or enigmas needing to be solved, but a pleasure multiplied tenfold by the multiple meanings and pitfalls of his visual compositions. They are not conceptual either, despite their titles used by him like itineraries and by the public like clues (even if those keys don’t necess

  • Charles Laib Bitton’s paintings seek to create a quiet, emotional dialogue between the viewer and the canvas. Rather than relying on cerebral analysis, his work invites a more personal, felt connection with the image. His paintings capture the quiet and changing moods of the everyday, focusing on the simple, honest feelings that make us human. Bitton studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (2018–2022) and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna (2016–2018). He has completed residencies at the Van Gogh Huis Museum in Zundert (2019) and the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley (2017). His solo exhibitions include “Fringe” at Basho’s Promise, Florence (2024), and “The Silver Medallion” at Super Super Markt, Berlin (2023).

  • Group show with Younes Baba-Ali The Written Art Collection is unique in its profile. For the first time, the Modern Art Collection (Sammlung Moderne Kunst) in the Pinakothek der Moderne is dedicating a major special exhibition focusing on its holdings of works of scriptural and text-based art. Around 60 artistic positions invite visitors to engage with a 1,200-square-meter exhibition parcours that reveals a panorama of written art and encourages reflection on the reciprocal relationship between text and image. The selection presents writing as both an artistic medium and material from the mid-20th century to the present day. ‘Sweeter than Honey. A Panorama of Written Art’ highlights a dynamic socio-political dialogue between artists from a pancultural, global perspective.

  • Gudny Rosa Ingimarsdottir’s artistic practice could be compared to a spider web inasmuch as it is born out of an infinite amount of delicate and mysterious connections that endlessly reconfigure her production, which appears to us, in each presentation, renewed in its form as in its very materiality. Thus, nothing is ever fixed in a clearly defined temporality and it is even truer when taking the angle of her photography work. The photosensitive surface has always known how to subtly slip into the cracks of her paper compositions, even arising in different places as to better inhabit the space that it has been given ; a presence that tends to affirm itself over the course of the years in order to assert itself steadily in a number of the artist’s recent compositions.
