Mario von Bucovich (1884–1947) was one of the most important portrait photographers of the 1920s. He significantly shaped the German-speaking illustrated press, particularly in the field of glamour photography. Among his portraits are famous personalities such as Marlene Dietrich, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Leni Riefenstahl. He was also a pioneer of modern metropolitan photo books. His 1928 published Berlin book was a remarkable bestseller and is still considered the most received Berlin image volume to this day.

In Kubus 0, around 50 artworks from artists like Max Beckmann, George Grosz, Otto Dix, Alexander Kanoldt, Georg Schrimpf, among others, will be displayed. Most of the works are from the Kunsthalle's own collection and supplemented by a high-quality loan from the Silard Isaak Collection.

The Poetics of Silence: Shimpei Yoshida's paintings explore the threshold between figure and abstraction, featuring recurring motifs of backs or faces of imaginary people from a found German family album. His unique technique blurs contours and transforms the surface into an ethereal substance, with light playing a crucial role in inviting viewers to engage intimately with the artworks.

The exhibition presents early polyester sculptures by Joachim Bandau from 1967 to 1974, exploring the relationship between humans and machines, bodies and technology, scientific progress, and the atrocities of World War II.

Schwerpunkte der drei neu kuratierten Sammlungskuben im Hector-Bau bilden Objekte der kinetischen Kunst, Arbeiten des Künstlers Anselm Kiefer im Dialog sowie Werke des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts, die sich mit dem menschlichen Körper nicht mehr als Einheit, sondern in Teilen und Fragmenten beschäftigen.

The exhibition 'Kirchner, Lehmbruck, Nolde' at Kunsthalle Mannheim explores the history of Expressionism through 50 paintings, 30 sculptures, and 100 graphics. It features works from prominent artists like Kirchner, Lehmbruck, Nolde, Heckel, Jawlensky, Kokoschka, Mueller, Pechstein, Schmidt-Rottluff, and Münter. The exhibition also critically examines the Expressionists' view of 'the foreign' or 'exotic', their appropriation of non-European art and culture.
