On now

  • Saturday, April 4, through Sunday, November 8, 2026, the exhibition will once again be open to the public at the Beguinage. For centuries, the Beguinage has been a place of peace, spirituality, solidarity, and entrepreneurship—and above all, a community of women. In the exhibition, visitors discover the many lives and stories that have taken shape there over the centuries. The exhibition continues to tell, in words and images, the historical story of the Bruges Beguinage through the lens of its five heritage values. Visitors will meet the women who shaped the history of the Beguinage. A notable new contribution comes from the DKO, which has compiled a new collection of artworks created by students as part of the 800th anniversary of the Beguinage. This gives the exhibition not only a historical dimension but also a contemporary and artistic one.

  • With great passion, internationally renowned cathedral organist Ignace Michiels, together with his vocal ensemble De Wijngaard, will enrich 10 Eucharistic celebrations with festive sounds in Bruges Cathedral in 2026. While Ignace will make the mighty Klais organ shine with virtuoso sounds, Isabelle Dekeyser will expertly conduct the choir. Together, they will perform a rich repertoire of choral and organ works that will elevate the liturgy to a higher level. Be inspired by these beautiful choral and organ works and celebrate with us! This year is extra special: no fewer than three celebrations will be broadcast live on TV and radio to people's homes. A moment when the whole of Flanders will be watching our cathedral. We look forward to welcoming you live!

  • The 11-year-old Felix Franssens, recently awarded the title Krak of Beernem, will exhibit from 11 February to 12 May at De Republiek Grand Café. From kindergarten onwards, it was clear that Felix Franssens possessed a great talent for drawing and painting. After several years at the art academy, he is now mainly following his own path. Through hands-on practice, he teaches himself new drawing and painting techniques. He has a strong preference for creating portraits, but also enjoys producing large-scale abstract collages using oil pastels and oil paint. Inspired by the “Old Masters” (Caravaggio, Rembrandt, J. L. David, Jan Van Eyck and Magritte), he continues to refine and develop his painting techniques. Come and discover the talent of the 11-year-old Felix Franssens for yourself in our Grand Café!

  • Award-winning film photographer Kris Dewitte has a soft spot for polaroids. With their limited colour range, lack of detail and poetic softness, these prints deliberately stay far away from the photorealism of a camera. They turn Dewitte into a poet or the painter he originally was, with sometimes musing then sometimes surrealistic images. By dramatically enlarging these little ‘prints’ full of nostalgia, the photographer-poet dishes out XXL daydreams to us, like a down layer over the everyday.

  • Joke Raes creates an on-site wall work for AiR Biekorf that shows the power of positive traces and inner movements. In reclaimed material from air conditioners, she scratches floral motifs. This work is an ode to imagination. With her refined visual language, Raes takes the viewer on an imaginary journey through her inner world. Inspired by her monograph Vivid, she deepens these imaginary walks in new work.
