A Postmodern Interior by Marloes and Wikke This summer at the Groninger Museum: vibrant postmodern interiors by Marloes and Wikke, with additional programs and a side exhibition.

In 2025, it's 50 years since Bas Jan Ader sailed from Cape Cod to the Netherlands for his project In Search of the Miraculous. He never arrived. Edward Clydesdale Thomson honors him with Bound to the Miraculous at Groninger Museum.

Travel crisscross through time at the Groninger Museum. In the new collection presentation It's About Time , the boundaries of linear time are broken. We usually imagine time and history as a straight line, but what happens when we move crisscross through it? Or in circles? Seven rooms filled with artworks from the museum's own collection invite you on a personal journey of discovery through the different faces of time. Various curators of the Groninger Museum have been given the freedom to wander through the collection as time travelers and tell their own story. Each room thus illuminates the unique collection from a personal perspective, with themes such as nature, powerlessness, and transience taking center stage. From centuries-old artworks to contemporary creations. It's About Time comes at a special moment: a period of transition in which the Groninger Museum prepares for a new artistic direction under the leadership of artistic director Roos Gortzak. Together with the curators, she has shifted accents here and there and added an extra room with work by David Lamelas and Bas Jan Ader – artists whose work perfectly aligns with both the time concept and the museum collection.

Chihuly’s Grand Stairwell Installation comprises 70 red, orange, and yellow exotic glass forms, known as Persians, in a composition which covers the three walls of the 12-metre-high stairwell. The installation can be seen from the museum’s different floors as well as from the staircase. Audience members quickly expressed a wish that the museum would purchase the work. The Groninger Museum is delighted and proud to have obtained sufficient support to make that wish come true.
