KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art - Berlin

Cornelia Parker views destruction and physical forces as central to sculptural practice. In her sculptures and installations, she combines deconstruction with transformation, subjecting everyday objects to processes that alter their form and create new meanings. For the monumental Kesselhaus, she creates an immersive, site-specific piece – a phenomenal fictional event with immediate physical presence.

Phoebe Collings-James (*1987 in London, lives in London) combines ceramics, drawing, text and sound into multilayered works that address violence, desire, eroticism, and anti-colonial practices. The KINDL presents Collings-James's first institutional solo exhibition in Germany, featuring ceramic sculptures and a sound work that continue her exploration of these themes.

Cihad Caner (* 1990 in Istanbul, lives in Rotterdam) questions social mechanisms of representation and power in his artistic practice. His video work focuses on the figure of the monstrous and its layered meanings. Caner's animated monsters sing, hum, and speak of exclusion, self-assertion, and hospitality.

Erik Schmidt (* 1968 in Herford, lives in Berlin) works across painting, drawing, photography, video, and performance. The KINDL presents his extensive body of work in multiple chapters, creating a multifaceted self-portrait that probes questions of (queer) identity, community, and individuality. Through richly layered compositions, Schmidt offers a perspective that is at times brutal and often humorous, exposing underlying social norms and structures.
