- Step into the history of Soestdijk Palace and discover how the sons of King Willem II and Anna Paulowna made their unique return to the Waterloo Hall. What at first glance resembles classical paintings is, in reality, a magnificent example of modern textile art. These imposing works, constructed with an impressive 67.000 meters of yarn each, depict the adult Princes Willem, Alexander, and Hendrik in their royal roles, rich in color, texture, and history. These tapestries not only give the Waterloo Room a new visual splendor, but also create an artistic bridge between the past and the present. - An impressive group of bronze horse sculptures by the internationally renowned artist Spronken has been installed in Soestdijk Palace Park. These monumental sculptures, known for their powerful forms and expressive presence, are the newest addition to the sculpture garden being developed around Soestdijk Palace. Initiator Maya Meijer-Bergmans, owner of the palace and curator of the sculpture garden, aims to bridge the gap between past and present with this addition. "This place exudes history, but also invites innovation. With art, we bring these worlds together," says Meijer-Bergmans. She was previously responsible for the successful sculpture exhibition on Lange Voorhout in The Hague. The sculpture garden showcases work by international artists, each responding to themes such as nature, architecture, and royal heritage. Horses of Spronken fit seamlessly into this vision and strengthen the dynamic between art and environment. The statues can be admired in the Palace Park from Friday, August 8, 2025.Beschrijving
